Tara Donovan with Pace Prints

Tara Donovan has such a unique approach to art making. Known for creating amazing sculptures using every day objects, her pieces transform the mundane into the magnificent.

Her collaboration with Pace Prints was no exception. Using Slinky's and common pins, she created a series of prints that break the traditional mold of the woodblock, engraving or silkscreen matrix.

It really takes a certain way of looking at the world in order to create such interesting work from something as commonplace as a slinky. Donovan created some truly mesmerizing prints in this series.

Below is a process video from Pace Prints showing how she created her "pin prints" from 2009.

I would love to see more footage of the printing process for these prints because I'm sure there was quite a bit of troubleshooting and I would love to know what kind of problems they encountered and how they overcame them.

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you'd like to see another post about Tara Donovan then leave a comment and let me know.
